Let’s take a moment to explain who the player characters are in this campaign.
Issa is a tiefling druid. A tiefling is a humanoid with horns and a tail. Their skin is often a bright color, from blue to red to gold. They are thought of as unlucky or cursed people whose parents or ancestors were in league with some infernal entity. Issa, however, does not know her parents nor her ancestry. She was raised by druids since infancy. Druids are people in tune with nature at all times. They can use magic to manipulate the elemental powers. They also can turn into animals for a short period of time. This is useful in a fight as a large tiger, or on a stealth mission as a mouse to recon an enemy camp. Issa left the druid village to make her own way in this world.
Nimby is a gnome ranger. Gnomes are small, only reaching three feet tall. They are very smart and can live for hundreds of years. Rangers live in the wilderness, and Nimby’s entire family are all rangers that roam a large forest. They are skilled hunters at taking down any kind of beast or enemy. They are sneaky and take time to learn about their enemies and surroundings before striking. Nimby left her family to seek out an education at Bard school. School was more difficult than she expected, so she left school to drown her sorrows in taverns. She has a few gaps in her memory over the last couple years of tavern-crawling down the coast. Many rangers have a beast companion. Nimby’s in Snaky, the poisonous snake she keeps in her pocket.
Phoebe is a human paladin. Humans are the most versatile races in the DnD universe. They can be anything and do anything they set their mind to. They typically live less than a century and therefore tend to be an impatient race. Paladins are fighters dedicated to a particular deity that imbues them and their weapons with radiant magic. Most paladins are annoyingly lawful and believe their personal morality is the same as objective ethics. They refrain from vices since these are considered punishable sins. Phoebe was raised in a temple for Thor, God of Thunder. She recently left the temple to test her own strength.
Vola is a half-orc wizard. Half-orcs are tall and strong. These people usually have dull green-gray skin. They have a similar lifespan to humans but gravitate towards nomadic tribes in the wilderness over cities. Most civilizations find them suspicious because of their close association with orcs. Vola’s family joined the Cult of the Dragon when she was younger. She was apprenticed to an older red wizard who taught her some of his spells and how to take spells from other wizards. She left the apprenticeship to avenge her family, who were killed while protecting a high ranking cultist during an assassination attempt. Since meeting this group of warrior women, Vola has acquired a black pseudodragon familiar that always sits on her shoulder.
Zelena is an elvin wizard. Elves live for many centuries and are therefore very patient people. They build structures and relationships to last generations, not just for their immediate gain. They keep to themselves and are wary of the younger races. Zelena studied under an alchemist for many years before leaving to study magic on her own. A wizard is a life-long student. They can be curious to a fault, putting themselves or others in danger for more spells or ancient knowledge. Zelena is always on the lookout for new scrolls to add to her spell book, and rare ingredients to use in her potions.
