The group of adventuring women are in a cave system occupied by the Cult of the Dragon. They have cleared out a few rooms of cultists including the mighty Rosa Cyanwrath and her personal guards. After a short rest in the Shrine room, they decide to continue further into the cave. The next room is a natural cavern lit by a dim lamp. It contains several small bunk beds, only a few feet long. Issa (tiefling druid) whispers, “Do they keep children here?”
Nimby (gnome ranger) gives her a side glance, “You know, not all short people are children.” She sits on a bed, lies down, and smiles. “Ah yes, the perfect size.” However, she is startled when the bunk above her snores! Slowly peeking above the rim, she sees a sleeping kobold wrapped in a blue blanket. “Aw, it’s so cute!” She whispers and slips away so she doesn’t wake it up.
Zelena (elf wizard) scans the beds quickly for anything interesting. She sees an odd sack under one of the pillows. She pulls it out and looks inside, but it is just dark. She sticks her hand inside. The sack only appears big enough to hold half a dozen potatoes, but she is able to reach inside all the way down to her shoulder. She rummages about and pulls out a few silver pieces. “Hm that is odd.” She turns the bag inside out. Several daggers, copper coins, wooden carvings of dragons, and a healing potion drop out of the flimsy bag. “This must be a bag of holding,” she observes happily and attaches it to her belt. Nothing else of value is found in the room, so they continue forward.
There are two staircases out of this room, and the party decides to take the stairs on the right. These lead down about thirty feet to a long dark room. A few steps inside reveal a fifteen-foot ledge to an even bigger room below. It is difficult to make out many details of the room due to the lack of light, but even with limited vision as they peer over the ledge they can see on the floor below what appears to be two oval-shaped black stones. The women stand on the ledge and listen for any signs of danger. Dripping water echoes off the back of the chamber.
Nimby jumps down first. She lands softly. The natural cave has several stalagmites protruding from the ground around her. Phoebe (human paladin) and Zelena jump down next and cautiously approach one of the oval-shaped stones. As they do, three growling drakes creep out from behind stalagmites. Zelena outstretches her arms and says, “Woah, easy now.” Upon closer inspection, the stones are not statues but rather are covered in hard scales. And the shape is not oval but more like a big egg. These are black dragon eggs. Zelena’s eyes go wide as she realizes what they have stumbled across. She reaches out to touch one of the eggs, but as she does the closest drake leaps forward! Nimby shoots off a slew of arrows and fells the beast before it can touch Zelena. Issa, still on the ledge above, points at the floor below another drake, and the stone ground shifts and morphs like quicksand and swallows the drake whole. Then she says, “I can hear something further in the cave. Be careful.” Zelena shoots a spray of acid at the last drake and melts its skin off. Vola (half-orc wizard) jumps down the ledge to join the group.
Phoebe quietly draws her broadsword and sneaks toward the back of the cave around a corner. She is bombarded by the stench of death and rot. Her eyes tear up and she pulls up her shirt to block the smell. Vola creeps up behind her and starts gagging at the smell. From the darkness a hissing sound infiltrates both of their minds and forms into one word, “Snacks?” At this Phoebe goes pale and leans against the cave wall. Vola throws a ball of light up toward the ceiling, illuminating a creature crouching in the back corner. It has large claws, spikes up its back, sharp teeth, and one giant green eye. “Snaaackss?” echoes in her mind again like a brain freeze. It takes a step forward toward Phoebe.
Zelena runs around the corner to see Snacks the Nothic rush towards Phoebe while Vola clutches her own head. She also perceives a third dragon egg where the nothic was hiding, this one white in color. Before Snacks can attack, Zelena yells out, “Stop! I have a snack for you!” Snacks stops dead in his tracks and turns his green gaze towards Zelena.
“Ssssssnacks?” The green eye seems to glow brighter and blurred, like a neon sign a midnight. Zelena runs back to the drake that she killed with acid and asks Nimby to help her drag it to the back of the cave. Snacks the Nothic creeps around the corner and meets them halfway. “Snackssss!” it exclaims with glee and leaps onto the corpse, tearing it to pieces. Zelena grabs Phoebe and assists her back to the ledge where Issa is keeping watch. Vola is able to walk on her own despite the migraine Snacks inflicted on her mind. While Issa pulls everyone back up the ledge, Zelena rolls all three of the dragon eggs (each one weighing over one hundred pounds) into her new bag of holding.

Finding no other exits, the group retreats back through the kobold bunk room and takes the other set of stairs to the left, leading to another ledged room. Along the wall of this room are racks containing poles, dummies, collars, and whips. From the floor below they hear quiet scratching and chewing. Nimby takes the lead, edging along the wall quietly. Looking down the ten foot ledge, she sees two drakes chewing on some bones. They are only half the size of the other drakes in this cave and seem much more playful and distracted than sinister. These are clearly drake puppies. Nimby turns to the others and puts a finger over her mouth. Continuing silently along the ledge, the party slips through the archway in the wall, which opens up to reveal a high-vaulted room.
This room features a few small mushrooms growing in crevices and several black blobs scattered on the floor. Nimby gently steps over what appears to be a dead bat on the ground. Curious how it got here, she looks up toward the ceiling. Clinging to a stalactite are three stirges (small bat-like beasts with 4 arms and a proboscis for a mouth). One of them has a squirming bat in its claws and is using its proboscis to suck at the bat’s neck. After a second, the stirge releases its grip, and the bat drops to the floor dead. Nimby freezes and motions to the others to stay still. Carefully watching her step, Nimby circumvents the mushroom crevices and other dead bats to cross the room. The others follow behind her.
She reaches the stairs leading up to the next room, relaxes a bit, and starts to climb. The others follow close behind. Halfway up the stairs, however, her foot trips on a wire that spans the width of the steps. The wire snaps, and immediately all the steps rotate forty-five degrees to create one giant slide leading back down to the stirge room. She yells out a warning just as everyone loses their footing. Issa – at the rear of the party – stretches out her hands towards the doorway and vines grow out from the cave walls to form a leafy net. A stirge hums on the ceiling and detaches from its stalactite as Issa points to the top of the slide/staircase, and the vines crawl up to form a living rope. As quickly as possible, the group climbs up the slide using the vines Issa provided. The stirge lands on the vine-net at the base of the slide and tries to suck at the leaves but fails to break through, giving the group time to escape to the top.
Pulling themselves into the next room, the group sprawls out on the ground to catch their breath. This room is lit by dozens of vibrantly glowing mushrooms giving off a slight lavender haze. Phoebe gets up first and assesses the situation. “There are two paths through the mushrooms. These are probably dangerous, so don’t touch anything.” As she says this Zelena is already reaching out to touch one of the violet-colored mushrooms. She pauses at Phoebe’s words, but to her surprise the mushroom itself moves to touch her fingers. She yelps in pain and pulls back her hand just as another mushroom starts to move toward her. Wild-eyed she looks up, and the entire room has started shifting in waves as the mushrooms inch in closer.
“Ouch!” Vola exclaims as one touches her ankle. “Which way do we go?” Phoebe shrugs and sprints up the path on the right. Vola follows behind, but something else in the room catches her eye. As the mushrooms shift around the room and the pathway narrows, she sees on the ground a black plush dragon toy. Throwing caution to the wind, Vola jumps over the smaller mushrooms and scoops up the soft toy. It looks brand new. She stuffs it into her backpack and dodges the protruding mushroom fingers to return to the group. The pathway continues to narrow so Nimby shoots the mushrooms ahead of them. Phoebe yelps as she trips and lands face-first in a violet pile. She shrieks as a piece of her nose turns to ash and the bone is exposed. They run all the harder, until they come to a new stairway at the end of the room. Before ascending, Zelena pulls on some gloves, carefully detaches one of the smaller mushrooms from the ground, and dumps it and the gloves into her new bag of holding.
Exhausted and almost depleted of magic, the group climbs the stairs. At the top they can see two pools of blood on the ground near a stone column. Ready for another fight, Phoebe peers around the column. Her shoulders relax and she smiles. “We’re back! We’re back at the entrance!” The two pools of blood belong to the two cultists they had killed earlier that day at the cave entryway. Everyone relaxes and exits the cave, knowing all threats were neutralized inside. It is dark out with only a crescent moon revealing the empty cultist camp. The deer hunters from before have vanished. The women take turns keeping watch overnight and camp out in the leftover empty tents. The skin on Phoebe’s nose regrows by morning, but it is tough skin and has a permanent scar.

-I may have written this dungeon in the wrong order to ensure that Zelena found her bag of holding before she found the dragon eggs.
-I excluded two of the rooms in this dungeon because I decided it was just too big. DMs can do that.
-Zelena assisted in the editing of this episode.
