Having just repaired the gate, the party then decided to save the people trapped inside temple. Sir James hands off two keys to Issa that unlock the doors to the sewer tunnels. He takes his men south towards the mill. As the party heads down the stairs to the basement of the keep, they hear a mighty roar outside and a clash of lighting. The ground shakes a bit beneath their feet.
The basement contains barrels of ale and corn, crates of wheat heads and other vegetables. Issa unlocks the grate. An eerie whisper beckons them in. The tunnel is choked with cobwebs and is pitch dark. After a few minutes of walking in silence, a light appears in front of the party. A small floating spark that whispers in elvish, “This way for me…” The light dims out and another appears 20 ft ahead, and so on for about 100 ft until the tunnel opens up to a larger room. The floor in here is covered in a heaping mound of sticky sludge. Issa, being in front of the group, steps in it first and is stuck. The black pudding springs to life off the floor and tries to grab her! At the same time, three floating will-o-wisps surround the group and shoot small sparks of lightning at each person. Fighting ensues. Nimby shoots a few arrows at the lights while Zelena and Issa burn away the pudding.

-I admit I forced this interaction. There was no way out from this fight unless they turned around and left the tunnel the way they entered. A lot of this book we were using was forced – only one way the story can go. It made DMing easier in the beginning, but prevented free thought for the players.
